Download the "source code pro" font from Adobe (it's free) at:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/sourcecodepro.adobe/

Installing and using a font is ridiculously easy, unzip it and install by selecting all the the .ttf files and right clicking and chosing "install" (Win 7).  The open your code editor and choose the Source Code Pro font, regular type. NOTE: the .ttf fonts look MUCH better with some editors than the .otf for some reason.

Ok, WHY?

Look - I get that you're spending on the order of $1000.00   but you spend more time with your smartphone than anything else in  your life with maybe the exception of your pillow and bed.  A smartphone is an an extension of your brain and yourself.  If all you were going to do is make phone calls on it, buy the cheapest thing you can find.  but no one makes phone calls on a smartphone any more.  Think about that...
